The TILIA Romanian Cities Summit is a national platform dedicated to the dialogue on the future of urban development in Romania. Organized by the IULIUS Foundation in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the event brings together public administration representatives, international financial institutions, investors, architects, urban planners, academia, and civil society to generate concrete solutions for sustainable urban transformation.
The first edition of the summit will take place on April 23–24, 2026, at the Palace of Culture in Iași.
A collateral event is the Foster + Partners “Future Proof” exhibition, which can be visited from April 7 to May 3, 2026, at the Palace of Culture in Iași.
TILIA is the acronym for Today’s Ideas and Leadership in Action—an annual platform for urban dialogue and leadership. In Latin, Tilia means linden tree. Since we are in Iași, we don’t even need to say why we love the name.

The summit is organized over two complementary days:
Day 1 – Urban Vision and Design (April 23): international perspectives on vibrant cities, case studies and examples of urban regeneration, and human-centric design.
Day 2 – Financing and Implementation (April 24): financing mechanisms for urban projects, public-private partnerships, affordable housing, and innovative implementation models.
For the first time in Romania, on the occasion of the Romanian Cities Summit, the Foster + Partners architecture firm brings the “Future Proof” exhibition to Iași—featuring approximately 30 models of representative projects from around the world. The exhibition can be visited at the Palace of Culture from April 7 to May 3, 2026.
The summit is designed for professionals in fields relevant to urban development: representatives of local and central public administrations, investors, financial institutions, architects, urban planners, researchers, and members of civil society and academia. Participation is by invitation or through registration followed by confirmation.
You can register by filling out the form available on the official TILIA website. Please note that seats are limited.
